Sexsmith curlers at U18 provincials

A team skipped by Sexsmith curler Jaxon Hiebert wound up in the runner-up spot at the U18 Boys Provincial Championship in Sylvan Lake.

Hiebert’s team lost Sunday’s final 4-1 to the Peter Hlushak team from Edmonton. The Hlushak foursome won all nine of its round robin and playoff games. Hiebert’s only two losses in nine games were to Hlushak.

On the girl’s side, a team from Sexsmith skipped by Hayden Young finished 4-3, good for fourth place and just out of the playoffs.

The Emma DeSchiffart team from Lacombe won the final, 9-1, over Abby Whitbread also from Lacombe.
