County of Grande Prairie added to Alberta Drought Livestock Assistance program
The provincial and federal governments have expanded the Alberta Drought Livestock Assistance program to include 23 more municipalities.
The County of Grande Prairie is among those that have been added.
A release from the province says the funding will open on Monday, with the application deadline set for February 22. What the government calls extraordinary costs up to March 31 can also be included.
“We’ve seen a high uptake for this AgriRecovery initiative across the province. I’m pleased Alberta’s government was able to work with the federal government to expand this financial support to additional regions impacted by severe drought and extreme heat conditions. I will continue to look out for the interests of our hard-working livestock producers,” says Alberta’s Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation RJ Sigurdson in that same release.
