Hinton hosting men’s curling provincials

UPDATE: Daylen Vavrek opened the Alberta men’s curling championship with a 7-2 in over Johnson Tao from Edmonton. Vavrek will play Calgary’s Ryan Parent in the 6:30 draw Wednesday night.

Scott Webb lost 9-5 to Edmonton’s Jacob Libbus, who will now play Kevin Koe in the Wednesday night draw.

Webb’s next game is Thursday at 2 p.m. His opponent has not yet been decided.

Two teams from the Peace will start play today (Wednesday, February 7) at the Alberta men’s curling championship in Hinton.

Daylen Vavrek’s Sexsmith team opens against Johnson Tao from Edmonton.

The Vavrek foursome also includes third Roland Robinson, second Carter Lautner and lead Evan Asmussen.

Scott Webb’s team from Grande Prairie will play Jacob Libbus from Edmonton.

Webb’s rink also includes third Tristan Steinke, second Christopher Kennedy and lead Jordan Steinke.

Draw 1 starts at 1 p.m.

Kevin Koe is also there. His team plays its first game in Draw 2 set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
