The MD of Greenview and Town of Valleyview have been honoured with the 2024 Minister’s Award for Transportation Innovation by the province.

The award is for the work on the Valleyview Airport Rehabilitation Project.

MATI acknowledges those who show innovative efforts in the transportation sector, especially for those planning, designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining the transportation network in Alberta.

Recipients of MATI show excellence in areas like design, construction, environmental practices, safety, operation, and innovations related to transit and accessible transportation.

MD of Greenview Reeve Tyler Olsen said in a statement; “Collaboration with the Town of Valleyview was pivotal in making the Valleyview Airport Rehabilitation Project a success. It’s a testament to the power of partnerships, emphasizing that by working together, we can achieve innovative solutions that positively impact our community and beyond.”

The project was completed thanks to funding through the provincial government’s Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program in 2022, as well as various other contributors. The cost of the project was over $1.75 million.
