ATCO Fire Cadet program brings in 21 cadets for first intake

County of Grande Prairie’s Committee of the Whole received an update on their newly launched Fire Cadet program at their Monday meeting.
The ATCO Fire Cadet program officially launched in February with 21 qualifying candidates out of 50 applications to receive hands-on training and high school credits.
The program is being supported by a three-year $18,000 commitment from ATCO spanning 2023 to 2026.
It will run the length of a single semester, with subsequent semesters bringing a new group of cadets to participate in the program.
