Local hockey teams mourn passing of Ed Widdifield

The Northwest Junior Hockey League, Grande Prairie Athletics and the Storm are sending their condolences to the family of Ed Widdifield.

The NWJHL says on its website that Ed passed away Saturday after complications from a cardiac arrest in February.

Widdifield had served as a coach and general manager of the Beaverlodge Blades, helping to bring the team back into existence two years ago.

He also served as an assistant coach with the Storm and has volunteered with events like Stompede.
