Team North had a successful showing at the Alberta Bowling Provincials over the weekend, accomplishing something that hasn’t been done in their 50-year history of competing.
Hosted at HJ’s Five Pin Bowling, Team North shined in the team events, taking 4th in the Ladies’ Division, 5th in Mixed Teams, and for the first time ever, taking home the gold in the Men’s Team event.
The squad made up of Grande Prairie and Peace River residents; Robert, Thomas and Sean Tomkins, along with Dustin Thompson, Israel Bellevance and Rylan Willier, solidified their gold in the second to last game of the tournament, against the juggernaut Edmonton team.
Coach of the Men’s Team and HJ’s owner, Gerald Hafner says during the match, the crowd was “electrifying,” adding someone measured the decibel reading on their phone at 118.
