County of Grande Prairie issues fines for fire restriction violations

The County of Grande Prairie is stressing the importance of adhering to current fire restrictions, after recently issuing fines related to restriction violations.
The fines were related to such things as burning without a necessary permit and leaving a pit fire unattended.
The County is reminding residents that even with a permit, no burning is allowed if winds are over 12 km per hour and the County has recently experienced 65 km per hour winds.
Fire Chief Trevor Grant says we are all stewards of our environment, and that by following fire restrictions you contribute to our collective safety.
