Top bid of $160,000 for drivers from the Peace at the Rangeland Derby tarp auction

Chanse Vigen and Dayton Sutherland tied for the top bid among drivers from the Peace at Thursday’s tarp auction for the Calgary Stampede’s Rangeland Derby.

The tarps on their wagons sold for $160,000.00 each.

They were third overall behind Kris Molle’s $210,000.00 and Kurt Bensmiller’s $175,000.00. Molle drew the top bid for the second year in a row.

Cody Ridsdale’s tarp sold for $145,000.00, then came Mitch Sutherland at $100,000.00 and Kirk Sutherland at $90,000.00.

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association says the average bid of $115,370.37 was the highest in the sale’s 44-year history.

The bid total of $3,115,000.00 is the seventh-highest total ever.

This year’s Calgary Stampede goes July 5 to 14.
