GPPSD nominates United Way Alberta Northwest for Friends of Education Award

United Way Alberta Northwest has been nominated for this year’s Alberta School Boards Association Friends of Education Award by the Grande Prairie Public School Division.

It says it nominated United Way to highlight their initiatives supporting academic and social success in GPPSD schools.

These programs include Tools for School, funding of psych-education assessments for students with developmental disabilities, school nutrition programs, and the Period Promise Program.

“The nomination of United Way Alberta Northwest for the Friends of Education Award highlights their invaluable support in our continuous and collective efforts to maintain supportive and inclusive educational environments for our students. Their commitment to the well-being and success of all youth in the city positively impacts the education community, and we greatly appreciate their partnership in this essential work.”

Earlier this month, Peace River School Division nominated Northwestern Polytechnic president Dr. Vanessa Sheane for the award.

The nominees will move on the zone selection committee, where those selected will be honoured at ASBA’s fall general meeting.
