Grande Prairie 4-H member wins provincial competition

A 16-year-old from Grande Prairie won the recent 4-H Alberta Provincial Communications Competition.

Waylon K. – his last name was not released because of his age – finished first among 28 competitors with a speech about “defying expectations and being yourself,” according to a release from competition sponsor AltaLink.

“I think the 4-H program has had a massive impact on how I’m able to express myself and be who I want to be,” he said in that same release.

“It’s a very accepting program. There’s a bunch of diversity and I am so happy to be a part of it.”
