22,000 “smiles” to be delivered at every school in Grande Prairie

Apr 25, 2024 | 12:31 PM

It will be all “smiles” around town next week, but it’s starting early in all Grande Prairie schools Thursday and Friday.

Ahead of Tim Horton’s annual Smile Cookie Campaign, Sean Sargent has donated 22,000 cookies to every single school in the city.

Sargent and the “A-Team” will be rolling around town in style delivering the sweet treats.

Sargent says he’s being doing this for 13 years.

“The beautiful thing about this is 100 per cent of the proceeds when you buy a cookie goes to the hospital foundation.”

“You feel good buying the cookie, eating the cookie, and giving it away. In this case, I’m giving all these cookies out, the 20,000+, to all the kids, administration, and staff at schools and they love getting them”

He says he intially started delivering Smile Cookies to the schools he and his wife went to growing up, but has expanded to every single one in the city.

“It is a lot of work and it takes some time to do this, but as soon as you go to the first school and you see the kids eyes light up,” makes it all worth it says Sargent.

He hopes students understand this is more than getting delicious treat.

“Hopefully they will learn when their teacher explains to them about philanthropy, donating, and giving back to your community, we will get some youngsters growing up to philanthropists in the future.”

The Smile Cookie campaign runs April 29 to May 5.

Every Tim Horton’s in Grande Prairie is raising funds for the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation this year.

All proceeds made from the campaign will be going towards supporting cancer care at the hospital.
