Spring Break-Up Dine and Dance raises over $450,000 for Grande Spirit Foundation

An event held in late April helped raise funds for the Grande Spirit Foundation’s Pleasant View Seniors Lodge in Spirit River.

On April 20, attendees participated in the 13th annual Spring Break-Up Dine and Dance, organized by Solution Services, the Rycroft Ag Society and Nar Environmental Ltd.

Solution Services sales manager Collin Lefley says they raised over $450,000 to enhance the seniors lodge.

“It wasn’t just the older crowd, it was the younger generation. This was the thirteenth or fourteenth year this do has been on,” Lefley says. “The generational people that used to be the bidders? Now their kids are the ones putting their hands up, spending money and donating to causes like this where it’s really needed.”

Lefley says this was their second year personally running the event.

“We just kind of took it over from another company that had started it and then sold, and then after COVID we decided last year was the year to get it going again and we got it going,” he says. “The tickets sell so fast because everybody wants to come to this, everybody wants to support. It takes a community to put it together and it takes a community to succeed.”

He says it was heartwarming to see so many people chip in for the cause.

“Nobody wants to have their family put in a situation where they have to put somebody in a home like that, but everybody knows that there’s a good possibility that that’s where you end up when your older,” he says. It’s phenomenal! Your heart goes out to the people in there and you want to make sure they’re comfy and that they have the best remaining years of their life that they can have.”

Over 500 guests attended the event and were treated to a catered meal, both live and silent auctions, a 50/50 draw all with music performed throughout by a live band.
