Voyent Alert! notification system ready for County residents

May 9, 2024 | 12:21 PM

A new notification system for residents to be informed on day-to-day communications to emergency/critical events has launched in the County of Grande Prairie.

The service is called “Voyent Alert!” and the County says the day-to-day notifications can be for things like:

  • Road advisories
  • Utility outages
  • Garbage collection disruptions
  • Community engagement opportunities

Notifications can be delivered to users through: e-mail, text, voice call, or directly through the Voyent Alert! app. Both landlines and mobile phones can be signed up to receive alerts.

Users can also customize what kind of notifications they want to receive. They can opt in or out of any non-critical communications at any time, and most alerts will be shown on the County’s website or shared on their social media channels.

Multiple locations can also be listed for users to register for specific area related alerts. Home, work, or any other addresses, like your child’s school, can be registered for alerts and the preferred channel of communication can be picked for each.

Resident data is also anonymous, even location. The County says users will never have to be concerned about their personal data being shared and will not have to remember a username or password as the system works through Two-Factor Authentication.
