UPDATE: Evacuation order & alert issued due to the Teepee Creek wildfire

An evacuation alert has now been issued for any residents residing in the area of Township Road 750 to Township Road 730, Range Road 32 and Smoky River, due to the Teepee Creek wildfire.

The blaze is now four kilometres east of Teepee Creek and any residents in the affected areas are asked to fuel their vehicles, gather important personal belongings and pets, and prepare for possible evacuation.

More updates are expected.

 

The County of Grande Prairie has issued an evacuation order due to the Teepee Creek wildfire.

This order is in effect for anyone living in the Kleskun Creek north to Township Road 742 area, and Riverstone Golf Course.

All evacuees are asked to travel north to Township Road 742 and west onto Highway 733, and register at the Pomeroy Hotel in Grande Prairie.

The County says to bring all pets, important documents foods, medication and water to be away from your home for at least seven days.

Teepee Creek Fire:

Four kilometres east of Teepee Creek near Rural Road 31 and Township Road 740, is currently being responded to by County Fire Crews, and Alberta Wildfire.

This fire is out of control and crews are working to contain the site, a specialized wildland fire crew is also on the scene, along with more equipment to respond to the blaze.

The County said in the release, that this blaze is moving away from the community of Teepee Creek and one home has been evacuated as a precaution.

Enforcement personnel are also on the scene in case there is a need for further restrictions.
