Grande Prairie Service Club signs undergo a redesign

May 15, 2024 | 1:19 PM

The City of Grande Prairie will be redesigning and reinstalling three service club signs, located along the city’s boundary.

According to the city, this work is being done “to make a positive first impression on people entering Grande Prairie.”

Funding for these new signs was provided through the Transportation Department’s operating budget.

Mayor Jackie Clayton said in a release; “Updating and relocating them (the signs) will help ensure that our community’s spirit is highlighted while acknowledging the valuable role these clubs play.”

The Transportation Department will now oversee the project, with stakeholders sharing their input throughout the process.

The city added in that same release that “This decision aligns with Council’s strategic plan to build an inclusive and caring community by enhancing the visibility and recognition of the service organizations that actively contribute to the City’s social fabric.”

Further details on the timeline and final designs will be announced at a later date.

Council approved new locations for three signs at its May 6 meeting.
