Camp Tamarack starts fundraiser for “long-term stability”

Jun 4, 2024 | 1:39 PM

Camp Tamarack is seeking “long-term, sustainable” funding, to ensure the camp is stable in case of any unforeseen closures in the future.

After seeing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 wildfires, which forced the camp to close for extended periods of time, it now has a goal of “long-term sustainability.”

Camp Tamarack says it is off to a positive start, receiving a $20,000 donation from 20-year supporter, Canadian Natural Resources.

However, according to Camp Tamarack, it is still embarking on a “robust fundraiser,” asking for a “five-year commitment from 200 individuals or businesses, each pledging $500 a year” to “guarantee the continued operation and safety of the facility, and secure a sustainable financial foundation for ongoing camp operations.”

Those ongoing camp operations include:

  • Enhance the eight-week summer camp program.
  • Support the school outdoor education curriculum requirements for Grades 5 to 12.
  • Provide a wilderness environment for youth clubs and groups to use and enjoy throughout the remainder of the year.

Anyone interested in becoming a supporter of Camp Tamarack can email Info@camptamarack.com.

In a release, Camp Tamarack thanked CNR for its donation and 20 years of support; “they do almost everything, build things, clean cabins, cut firewood, remove dead trees and do maintenance on the entire site.”

Most recently, CNR built a sling-shot range for campers
