The province has announced $236 million worth of grants for 125 water and transportation projects across Alberta.

This is part of the government’s Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP) and the Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership.

There are 86 grants under STIP that total $65.8 million. There are 39 water grants that total $170.3 million

“These provincial grants will help local communities repair aging infrastructure and build capacity for future population and economic growth. Upgrades to water and wastewater infrastructure, airports, bridges and roads will improve Albertans’ quality of life and improve everyday travel,” says Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors Devin Dreeshen in a release from the province

Of the 125 project grants, 21 are coming to the Peace Country. They are worth a combined $19,655,325.

That includes $2.4 million to the County of Grande Prairie for improvements to Range Road 92 and Township Road 730. The total project cost is just over $7.2 million.

There is just under $2.8 million for the Town of Valleyview for service road paving. This grant will cover half of the total project cost.

There are also grants for other road work, fixing some bridges, and replacing culverts.
