Jun 18, 2024 | 1:42 PM

The June 11 crop report from AFSC says 100 per cent of the crop has been seeded in the Peace.

The five-year average for this time of year is just over 98 per cent, the 10-year average just over 96 per cent.

Crop emergence is at just over 93 per cent for spring wheat, 91 per cent for peas, just under 72 per cent for barley and oats and just over 79 per cent for canola.

The report also says the Peace was the only area in Alberta to not see a reduction in surface soil moisture because of high winds during the reporting period.

Environment Canada had recorded 3.6 millimetres of rain for Grande Prairie from June 1 to 11, with another 8.9 millimetres from June 12-17.

Total rain for June equals about a half-inch

Surface soil moisture is rated just under 36 per cent excellent and 43.5 per cent good with 2.8 per cent poor and the rest fair.

Ten per cent of both pasture and tame hay growth is rated poor with around 51 per cent for both rated good and 36-37 per cent rated fair.
