Canada Day transportation & transit information

The City of Grande Prairie has shared some information on transit and transportation for Canada Day, coming up Monday, July 1.

City Hall says multiple road closures will be in effect on Monday during the parade, which is set to start at 2 p.m. and travel from Hillside to NWP’s parking lot.

  • 100 Avenue (between 98 Street and 102 Street) from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • 100 Avenue (between 96 Street and 106 Street) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • 108 Avenue (between 94 Street and 96 Street) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • 96 Street (between 108 Avenue and 100 Avenue) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The City will provide free transit from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and “extended late-night on-demand transit services” from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Due to the city providing free transit, routes one, three, four, six, seven and eight will experience temporary disruptions throughout Canada Day:

Route One

  • Stops 3000, 164, 166 and 168 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Route Three

  • Stop 302 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Route unavailable from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Route Four

  • Stop 402 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Route unavailable from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Route Six

  • Stops 632, 634, 636, 638, 640, 642, 644, 646, 648 and 650 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Route unavailable from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Route Seven

  • Route unavailable from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Route Eight

  • Stop 802 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Route unavailable from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

In a release, The city says it is looking forward to “hosting another year of grander celebrations at the free Canada Day festivities.”
