City of Dawson Creek purchases Eljen Medical Clinic

The City of Dawson Creek has purchased the Eljen Medical Clinic building.

City Hall in Dawson Creek says that thanks to a portion of an over $3 million dollar grant from the Province of British Columbia, the city was able to buy the building so doctors can continue to use it while providing primary care to the area.

While the city will own the clinic, city staff will not operate it and will instead focus on securing a lease with healthcare professionals to offset the operational costs.

Dawson Creek officials add that the purchase of the clinic does not immediately solve the community’s physician shortage, but it does secure the clinic for continued use.
