Jul 22, 2024 | 2:20 PM

The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service has now classified both of Sunday’s wildfires as under control.

On Sunday, July 21 crews responded to a fire (GCU-010) located south of Range Road 51 near the Wapiti River, as hot spots were detected.

A second fire (GCU-013) was then detected at 8 p.m., south of Range Road 44, near Bear River.

Earlier today, (Monday, July 22) both these fires were assessed before the county listed them as under control. Fire crews are no longer on the scene.

However, the fire service does ask residents in either of these areas to stay away from any equipment left behind, as crews will be patrolling these areas the next couple of days and may need this gear.
