Race the 8

Rycroft Race the 8 is set for Friday through Sunday. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Friday with the All-Pro chuckwagons and chariots starting at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday’s events include the calf scramble starting at 1:45 followed by the wild pony races and wagons. Bull riding starts at 7 p.m.

Sunday’s events include barebacks, saddle broncs, and wild pony races starting at 12:30. Wagons follow at 2:30.

There is horse racing Saturday and Sunday at Evergreen Park. Post time both days will be 1:15.

Sunday will be Derby Day. The race card will include the Grande Prairie Derby and the Grande Prairie Oaks.

Wheatbelt Baseball League

The semi-final round of the Wheatbelt Baseball League playoffs will conclude Sunday.

Peace River will be in Manning for a winner take all Game 5. Game time is 4 p.m.

Football

The Peace Country Cowboys visit the Edmonton Elite Saturday in an Alberta Football League quarter-final game.

The Cowboys ended the regular season with a record of 1-5.

Rugby

Grande Prairie’s rugby teams both have home games this weekend.

The Sirens host the Leduc Crude Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Centaurs host the Clansmen at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Both games will be played at Macklin Filed.
