Sep 5, 2024 | 1:18 PM

The Grande Prairie Police Service will be sending officers back to school at Northwestern Polytechnic, thanks to a new partnership.

NWP will now provide a space on campus for classroom-based learning to be taught by a Lethbridge Polytechnic Criminal Justice instructor, or other law enforcement experts from the area.

Addiontally, GPPS Officers will have access to local amenities to complete all their training in the Peace Region;. This includes race tracks, gun ranges, and recreation facilities.

According to the police service, officers will be “particularly visible at places like NWP and the Eastlink Centre.”

NWP president and CEO Dr. Vanessa Sheane says “NWP is happy to provide where we are able. We do very much see our campus as a hub within the community,” so to “accommodate an onsite classroom and culturally relevant training is a great solution for everyone.”
