GPFD confirms one fatality in house fire in Mount View Neighbourhood

Grande Prairie Fire Department has confirmed one fatality following a house fire Friday.

At approximately 12:00 p.m. September 6, GPFD responded to a house fire in the Mount View neighbourhood, encountering a home filled with heavy smoke.

Firefighters immediately entered the residence to conduct search and rescue operations, finding one person inside who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The fire was brought under control, preventing further damage to surrounding properties and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
