Goalie Signing

Grande Storm bring aboard home-grown talent

The Grande Prairie Storm have signed a local goalie prospect.

2006-born Keagin Kelln has joined the Storm, after playing last year with the local U18 AAA team.

General Manager Mark Bomersback says Kelln showed out at main camp and “earned it!”

He added, “Keagin is a very good, young goaltender that’s going to continue to get better. He’s put in the work and time over the last few years and you can see it. He’s been to a few of our spring camps and main camps and has stuck to the process and now, here he is today.”

In the same release, Kelln said he’s grown up as a Storm fan; “so it’s an incredible honour to sign with my hometown team. I can’t wait to get the season started and play in front of the fans who make Grande Prairie such a great hockey community.”

When discussing the upcoming goalie situation for the Storm this year, GM Bomersback said it will be good for Kelln to learn from a veteran goaltender like Nicholas Jones.

“We feel very confident in him that when called upon he will do a fine job. We like where we are at with him and Jonesy guarding the crease area this year.”

Storm fans can see Kelln and the rest of the Storm in action today or tomorrow as they wrap up their pre-season; with their home opener set for Friday, September 13.
