Eastlink Centre to host National Safe Swimming Recovery Program
The Eastlink Centre will be hosting a national lifeguard training program thanks to a partnership with the Federal Government and the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association.
The National Safe Swimming Recovery Program aims to address the national lifeguard shortage by offering subsidized certification end employment opportunities for youth in the aquatics field.
The program is open to people aged 15 to 30 that are a Canadian citizen permanent resident or protected under the refuge act, with special consideration given to Indigenous residents, people from low-income backgrounds, and members of an official language minorities community.
Only 10 spots are available for the program which consists of four courses: Intermediate First Aid and Stroke Improvement, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, and National Lifeguard.
