Fort Vermillion RCMP share update on a Highway 697 collision

Fort Vermillion RCMP is providing an update on a serious motor vehicle collision that took place on Friday, September 13.

Officers attended the crash site along Highway 697, north of La Crete around 5:50 a.m. and found an SUV and pick-up truck were involved in a head-on collision.

Mounties then determined the driver of the SUV, a 31-year-old resident of La Crete dead at the scene, while the truck driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital.

An RCMP collision analyst did attend the scene, and drugs and alcohol were determined to not be a factor.

At this time, officers are sending their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
