Girlzone returns to Grande Prairie next month.

The activity-based day is back to continue encouraging girls aged 10 to 15 to try out new skills and recreational activities with their peers.

The event will feature nine different activities:

  • Self-defence lesson with ENGAGE Athletic Performance at the Eastlink Centre.
  • Squash fundamentals with the Grande Prairie Squash Club at the Eastlink Centre.
  • Gymnastics with Grande Prairie Gymnastics at Gymniks.
  • Gentle yoga at the Eastlink Centre.
  • Cooking with Alberta Health Services at the Eastlink Centre.
  • Soccer with Swan City FC at the Eastlink Centre.
  • Bike skills with Nitehawk at South Bear Creek Park.
  • Guided painting craft at South Bear Creek Pavilion.
  • Drama games at South Bear Creek Pavilion.

Motivational speaker and yoga instructor Jennifer Edwards will be giving a presentation about the power of self-talk and the impact of self-confidence.

Mayor Jackie Clayton says Girlzone is a great event to address gender gaps and empower young girls to build confidence and connect with peers.

GirlZone is happening on October 5.
