Sep 26, 2024 | 12:00 PM

Grande Prairie Piranhas Swim Club member Oliver Dawson will be wearing the maple leaf on an international stage this winter in Budapest, Hungary.

He has been selected as part of an 18-athlete team to compete at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships from December 10-15. This will be the 16-year-old’s first time on a senior swim team.

He competed down in Canberra, Australia at the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships 2024 in August, where he won silver in two 4X100m Relay Medleys (one mixed and one men’s) and a bronze in the 100m Breaststroke.

The senior swim team also has three members who competed in the most recent Olympics and medalled; Kylie Masse, Ilya Kharun and Summer McIntosh, one of our country’s closing ceremony flag bearers.
