The Grande Prairie Storm beat the visiting Calgary Canucks in two games this weekend, sweeping the same team that eliminated them from last year’s AJHL playoffs.

Grande Prairie doubled the Canucks 6-3 Sunday afternoon at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.

The Storm took a 3-0 lead after the first period. Brandon de Haas had two of those goals, while Will Harris scored the other.

Zachary Wilson scored what proved to be the game winner just over two minutes into the second period to give the Storm a 4-0 lead.

Calgary answered with two goals before Harris scored his second goal of the game to give the Storm a 5-2 lead after two periods.

Zach Bansley had the other Storm goal about halfway through the third period. Keagin Kellin made 32 saves in the Grande Prairie net.

On Saturday, two unanswered goals in the third period gave the Storm a 3-2 win over the Canucks.

Jarred Feist had the game winner with just over two minutes left in the game.

Chayse Laurie and Tomas Marinkovic had the other Storm goals. Nicholas Jones stopped 33 of the 35 shots he faced to pick up the win in net.

The Storm now have 17 points on the season and remain in first place in the North Division, four points up on Whitecourt.

Grande Prairie plays its next two games on the road, Friday in Drayton Valley and Saturday in Camrose.
