Water Main Break

City crews work to solve water main break

The City of Grande Prairie has begun repair work at the corner of 108 Ave and 102 Street after a water main broke this morning. (Friday, October 18)

The cause of the water main break has yet to be determined, but as a result, Avondale School was closed for the day, and some local businesses have temporarily shut down operations.

While crews work to rectify the situation, the eastbound lane on 108 Avenue will be fully closed.

North and southbound traffic on 102 Street will no longer be able to turn onto 108 Avenue and eastbound vehicles on 108 Street must turn left or right at the intersection of 102 Street.

At this time, the city does ask residents to avoid the area, adding that more updates will be provided “as more information becomes available.”
