Alberta RCMP recognizing OCC Operators with OCCtober

Alberta RCMP is acknowledging the hard work being done by their Operational Communications Centres and the OCC operators.

The RCMP marked October as OCCtober to recognize operators’ efforts reassuring 911 callers, directing officers during crisis situations, and monitoring police movements.

As of October 28, 2024, 97 per cent of all calls made to an OCC are answered in under two minutes, and 87 per cent in under one minute.

Alberta RCMP are encouraging the public to help reduce response times by reporting any crimes they witness by calling 911 for an emergency and emailing the RCMP web page for a non-emergency.
