Alberta RCMP ask drivers to be cautious of “goblins, monsters & superheroes” in the street

Oct 30, 2024 | 6:00 AM

Halloween night is fast approaching and Alberta RCMP has provided a list of safety tips for “all the ghouls and ghosts.”

A list of safety tips for both adults and youth was put together by RCMP; “whether you’re going from house to house, driving to a fellow ghoul’s for a ghastly get-together, or staying inside to avoid things that go bump in the night, we can all do our part to ensure the safety of each other.”

While out trick-or-treating Mounties ask kids to keep some road safety tips in mind; always travel on the sidewalk and cross the street at a crosswalk, stay on one side of the road at a time to avoid crisscrossing back and forth, and be visible to driver’s either by having a bright coloured custom or by using glow sticks and reflective tape.

RCMP also ask kids to stay in groups, never enter the home or vehicle of someone they don’t know, bring a flashlight and try to stay in well-lit areas.

For adults enjoying Halloween festivities, Mounties ask that only commercially wrapped candy is handed out, keep outdoor lights on, pets indoors, ensure doors are clear, accessible and free from any tripping hazards, and if you are attending a party never get behind the wheel under the influence.
