Alberta Health Services says the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital will finally be getting food service inside their doors to serve staff and visitors come next year.

There has been no on-site service restaurant since the hospital opened its doors in December 2021.

A contract has been signed by Good Earth Coffeehouse, and is expected to be open for service in the facility by Spring/Summer 2025.

It will be located in the existing shelled-in space for a cafeteria, adjacent to the hospital’s main entrance.

AHS Senior Operating Officer for Grande Prairie Candice Edey said in a news release; “We understand that the wait has been long, and we are committed to bringing a high-quality, Alberta-based dining option to the hospital.”

“I appreciate the patience of the community as we worked toward bringing in a restaurant that will offer fresh, healthy meals for staff and visitors,” Edey also noted.

Good Earth Coffeehouse operates at several other AHS healthcare facilities and work to prepare the space, including design, construction, eqiupment installation and staff training will begin in the coming months.

AHS Acting Senior Operating Officer, Nutrition and Food Services, Laundry and Environmental Services, Carol Ellendt said in the same news release; “We are confident that Good Earth Coffeehouse will provide high-quality meal options that meet the diverse needs of the community.”

More details about the operating hours and menu of the restaurant will be shared by AHS closer to the opening date.
