Hockey, bantam football, Wolves volleyball and basketball, curling and Nitehawk ski swap all on this weekend

Storm

The Grande Prairie Storm visit Olds Friday and Saturday.

Face-off time will be at 7 p.m. both nights.

The Storm are in first place in the North Division with 24 points after 11 wins, a loss, overtime loss, and shoot-out loss in 14 games this season.

Grande Prairie is a point up on second-place Whitecourt, with a game in hand.

The Wolverines host Devon on Saturday in their lone game this weekend.

NWJHL

There are three games in the Northwest Junior Hockey League Friday; with Dawson Creek in Fairview, Sexsmith in Fort St. John, and Beaverlodge in Peace River.

On Saturday, Sexsmith will be in Peace River, Fairview in Fort St. John, and Beaverlodge in Dawson Creek.

Those games all start at 8 p.m.

La Crete will host the Wheat Kings Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

NPHL

There is one game in the North Peace Hockey League Friday.

High Prairie will be in Valleyview.

Four games on Saturday will include Grande Prairie in Falher, Valleyview in Spirit River, Fort St. John in Fox Creek, and Dawson Creek in Manning.

All the NPHL games start at 8:30 p.m.

Bantam Football

The Mighty Peace Bantam Football League will host two playoff games Saturday at CKC Field.

The Grande Prairie Norseman play the Grande Prairie Broncos at 11 a.m. in the Remple Cup.

The Sexsmith Shamrocks face the Grande Prairie Raiders at 2 p.m. in the Horner Cup.

Wolves

The Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves volleyball teams open their seasons at home against Lethbridge Polytechnic Friday and SAIT Saturday.

Games times will be 6 and 8 p.m. both days, starting with the women’s game.

The Wolves basketball teams open their seasons by visiting Lethbridge Friday and SAIT Saturday.

Game times are 6 & 8 p.m. Friday, and 1 & 3 p.m. Saturday, also starting with the women’s game both days.

Curling

The next stop for the Peace Curling Tour is in Slave Lake Friday through Sunday.

That will be followed by Dawson Creek November 22 to 24, Peace River December 6 to 8, and Grande Prairie January 17 to 19.

The Tour Championship takes place in Sexsmith January 31 to February 2.

Ski Swap

Nitehawk will host its Ski and Snowboard Swap Friday and Saturday at the TARA Centre at Evergreen Park.

Drop-off is from 4- 8 p.m. Friday.

Submissions can also be made online, and labels will be printed before equipment is dropped off.

The sale goes on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
