Snow Removal

City & County of Grande Prairie snow removal operations

Nov 22, 2024 | 6:00 AM

The City and County of Grande Prairie have provided an update on recent snow removal operations.

In the city, all priority one roads have been cleared including snow windrow removal, while work has begun on Priority 2 roads.

Snow removal in all Priority 1 parking lots in the city is still ongoing, with crews moving onto Priority 2 parking lots afterwards.

Work also continues on all priority bus stops and trails.

At this time, plows and sanders are focusing on the arterial road network and bus routes for ice control, as according to the city; snow accumulation has “not yet reached the threshold” to require residential clearing.

In the County, residential snow removal is getting underway in La Glace.

A street parking ban will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with any violators receiving a ticket or risk being towed.

The county also reminds residents that piling snow onto the roadway is illegal and can result in a fine.
