MP Warkentin looks back on 2024 and ahead into 2025

Dec 30, 2024 | 12:05 PM

Chris Warkentin sums up 2024 as an interesting year; for politics in Ottawa as well as back home in the Peace Country.

The Grande Prairie MP says he sees some strong glimmers of light when it comes to economic growth.

“We’re seeing some real shifts when it comes to opportunities for long-term prosperity here, and that gets me excited.”

Warkentin says the potential A.I. Data Centre in the Greenview Industrial Gateway project is one of many in the region that could bring real benefit to us.

But, he notes that doesn’t take away from the challenges the year has brought for the federal government.

“We do have a provincial government that is excited about growing our local/provincial economy, and I believe that working with the local governments as well as provincial, with the anticipation of an election next year… I’m looking forward to seeing some of those opportunities come to fruition.”

He says the dedication from people in his constituency wanting to build a better tomorrow, is a testament to our way of life.

Looking into 2025, besides an election, Warkentin says he is excited to keep working with our community leaders at the municipal and provincial levels.

“I hear it again and again when I’m travelling throughout the province as well as the country… people are talking about the Peace Country as a place to really watch over the next number of months.”

He says he mostly looking forward to growth in the region for families.

“As a dad and guy who wants to see his own family continue to prosper and stay in the community, I’m excited to see a land of opportunity and more coming on the horizon.”

Warkentin is of course the most excited about an upcoming federal election in 2025, when though is not set in stone.
