GPPSD trustees to vote on contract agreement with non-instructional employees on January 14

Jan 8, 2025 | 6:00 AM

The Grande Prairie Public School Division board will vote on a new contract with its non-instructional employees at its meeting next Tuesday, January 14.

The division announced that a tentative deal with the Employee’s Association on a four year contract had been reached in a news release issued on December 20.

Details were not given, but that release also says the contract covers issues like “fair compensation, improved working conditions and professional development for employees.”

A date for the employees to vote on the deal has not been set.

If approved, it would cover the time period from September 1, 2024, through August 31, 2028.

We are pleased to have reached this tentative agreement and believe it reflects the dedication and hard work of our employees. This agreement sets the stage for continued collaboration as we work together to assure the success of our students and the well-being of our staff,” said Board of Trustees Chair Joan Nellis in the release.

We are grateful for the efforts of both parties in reaching this agreement, and we look forward to the next steps in the process. Our members have shown incredible commitment to the students and the community, and this agreement reflects the value we place on their contributions,” added Employee Association President Roxann MacDonald in the same release.
