Grande Prairie-born goaltender awarded KIJHL weekly honours

A Grande Prairie Local has taken home the Kootney International Junior Hockey League top goaltender of the week award after masterful back-to-back games.

Landon Garbitt started the week off with a 37-save performance in a 3-2 loss to the Fernie Ghostriders on Friday, Jnauary 10, that was followed up by 45 saves in a 5-1 win over the Revelstoke Grizzlies on Saturday, January 11.

Over the course of the two games, Garbitt stopped 82 of 86 shots he faced, good enough for a .953 save percentage.

Now on the season, Garbitt has five wins under his belt, while averaging a 3.45 goals against average, and a .909 save percentage.
