School break and enter suspect arrested in Slave Lake

A 31-year-old man is facing ten charges following a break and enter into a school early Monday morning.

The report came to Slave Lake RCMP at 12:50 a.m. on January 13, 2025, that a person had broke into an educational facility on the community’s main street.

Officers on scene located the man hiding in a bathroom and once arrested, police learned the suspect was bound by conditions to not be in the town’s limits.

Joey Martin Bigstone has been charged with the following:

  • Break and enter with intent
  • Possesion of property obtained by crime under $5,000 X2
  • Possesion of a controlled substance
  • Failure to comply with conditions of release X6

Bigstone was taken before a Justice of the Peace before being remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Slave Lake court on Wednesday, January 15.
