Local sports for this weekend

Storm

The Storm will host Bonnyville Friday and Saturday.

Face-off is set for 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Storm head into the weekend in second place in the AJHL’s North Division, seven points behind Whitecourt but with three games in hand.

The Wolverines host Camrose Friday and Bonnyville on Sunday.

NWJHL

This is the last weekend of the regular season in the Northwest Junior Hockey League.

There are two games on Friday with the County of Grande Prairie Wheat Kings in Peace River and Fort St. John in Dawson Creek.

Saturday, Sexsmith at the Wheat Kings, Fort St. John in Fairview and Dawson Creek in Peace River.

All those games will start at 8 p.m.

Also Saturday, Beaverlodge in La Crete starts at 7 p.m.

Sunday, Beaverlodge in La Crete starts at 1:30.

NPHL

This is also the last weekend of regular season in the North Peace Hockey League

The lone game on Friday will see Dawson Creek visit Fort St. John.

Fox Creek was scheduled to play in Manning Friday night, but that has already been recorded as a 1-0 win for the Comets.

Games on Saturday will include Spirit River in Fort St. John, Valleyview in Falher and Manning in High Prairie.

All games start at 8:30.

Ringette

The Peace Country Ringette Tournament is set for Sunday at the County Sportsplex

Curling

The Peace Curling Tour Championship takes place in Sexsmith Friday through Sunday.

55+ drop-in senior curling at the Grande Prairie Curling Centre goes every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Games start at 9:30 a.m. Players are asked to show up early to register. The cost is $5 per game.

Wolves

Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves basketball will host NAIT Friday at 6 and 8 p.m. and Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.

Volleyball visits NAIT the same days and times.

The women’s games will go first for both sports both days.

Skiing

Nitehawk has cancelled the U12 provincial ski racing that it was going to host this weekend. The safe sport presentations will go ahead on Saturday. There is one for young athletes and another for parents. Former national ski team member Allison Forsyth will be the presenter. It will start at 7 p.m. at the Delta Hotel. Pre-registration is required.

Nitehawk is open Friday until 8 p.m., then again from 11-5 Saturday and Sunday. The Tube Zone will be open from noon-2, 2:30-4:30, and 5-7Friday, noon-2 and 2:30 to 4:30 Saturday and Sunday.

Whispering Pines Ski Hill is open Friday through Sunday from 10-4 p.m. Rental shop opens at 9 a.m.

Fairview Ski Hill is open from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and 11-5 Saturday, Sundays, holidays and no school days.

Spring Lake Ski Hill is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Little Smoky Ski Area is open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Misery Mountain is open from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Powder King is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Mondays and 9-3:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
