Primary Care Alberta’s Virtual MD service hits 100,000 callers milestone
Primary Care Alberta is celebrating a significant milestone with their Virtual MD service.
Since its launch in 2022, the service has surpassed the 100,000-caller milestone, connecting Health Link 811 callers to medical health professionals that can provide assessment over the phone to help reduce potentially unnecessary emergency department visits.
Of the first 100,000 patients, about half were able to manage their conditions at home with self-care.
Minister of Health Adriana LaGrange says the services has proven to be an innovative solution to providing Albertans with the care they need, often at home and easing the pressures on emergency departments.
