Local hockey from the weekend

NPHL

There is one game in the North Peace Hockey League playoffs Monday night. (February 10)

Fort St. John will be in Dawson Creek for Game 1 of their series. Game 2 will be played tomorrow night in Fort St. John.

Spirit River leads Grande Prairie 2-0 after a 4-3 win on Friday. Game 3 is set for Thursday in Grande Prairie.

Falher leads Fox Creek 2-0 after a 5-4 win at home Saturday and a 6-2 road win Sunday. Game 3 Thursday in Falher.

Manning leads Valleyview 1-0 after an 8-2 win at home Saturday. Game 2 will be played Wednesday in Valleyview.

All the NPHL games start at 8:30 p.m.

NWJHL

Fort St. John is the first team to advance to the final four in the Northwest Junior Hockey League playoffs.

The Huskies eliminated Fairview in a three-game sweep after beating the Flyers 7-1 Friday in Fairview and 13-0 in Fort St. John on Saturday. The Huskies opened the series with a 3-1 home win on February 5.

Two other series will resume on Wednesday.

Beaverlodge will visit the County of Grande Prairie Wheat Kings. The Blades lead the best-of-five 2-0 after a 3-2 road win Friday and a 5-2 home win on Sunday.

Also on Wednesday, Dawson Creek will be in Peace River. That series is tied 1-1. Peace River won 5-3 at home on Thursday, then Dawson Creek 5-4 at home on Sunday.

La Crete leads its series with Sexsmith 2-0. The Lumber Barons recorded two home wins over the weekend, 6-2 on Saturday and 13-2 on Sunday.

Storm

The Storm split two games in Devon on the weekend.

Grande Prairie won 14-2 on Friday then lost 6-5 in a shootout on Saturday.

The second-place Storm play first-place Whitecourt in a home-and-home series starting Friday in Grande Prairie and continuing Saturday in Whitecourt.

The Wolverines are eight points ahead of Grande Prairie in the standings, with the Storm having two games in hand.
