Alberta Caribou habitats near Grande Cache to be restored

Feb 14, 2025 | 4:02 PM

The Alberta government is teaming up with the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation to restore caribou habitats in the province.

The government says it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the First Nation to help advance caribou recovery in west-central Alberta.

Alberta’s minister of environment and protected areas says caribou recovery takes time, with habitat restoration and predator control two aspects involved.

The province says Alberta’s woodland caribou population is listed as a threatened species.
