City of Grande Prairie Family Day operations

Monday, February 17 is Family Day across Canada.

To celebrate the holiday, the City of Grande Prairie is once again hosting its annual Family Day event on Sunday, February 16.

From noon to 5 p.m., residents will have free access to the Eastlink Centre and all its amenities, with several activities planned:

  • Fieldhouse activities include a soccer dart board, bouncy castle and games.
  • Wibit inflatable obstacle course in the 50-metre Competition Pool.
  • Skating and rentals at the Design Works Centre from 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • eSport Game Lounge in the Legend’s Lounge at Design Works Centre.
  • Site-wide scavenger hunt.
  • Treat decorating.
  • Quiet crafty corner.
  • Snacks and prizes.

Following the event, the aquatics area will then re-open for public swimming from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

In the release, Mayor Jackie Clayton said her and Council “can’t wait to see residents of all ages enjoying this special day and make memories with their families.”

On the holiday Monday, (February 17) all City facilities will close for the day except the Ernie Radbourne Pavillion and the Eastlink Centre which will operate during holiday hours; noon to 5 p.m.

City transit will also be operational on Monday but only during limited holiday hours, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with late-night on-demand service running from 6 to 8 p.m.
