Family rallying to help kids after their mom and grandmother died in a crash near Red Earth Creek

Feb 14, 2025 | 2:23 PM

The family has started a fundraiser to help two kids after their mother and grandma died in a crash near Red Earth Creek.

The family says Megan Briand and her mom Corinne Fitzgerald were on their way home from buying groceries when their vehicle was hit by another vehicle being operated by an impaired driver. Two people in that vehicle also died in the collision.

The crash happened on Saturday, February 9 on Highway 986.

Megan Briand was 33 years old and had two children, aged 10 and 8. The kids are being cared for by their dad.

The family says it wants them to be able to have what they need that their mom would have provided for them. The money would be held in trust until they are old enough to look after it themselves.

An online fundraiser has already collected over $30,000. The goal is $50,000.

Megan’s sister-in-law Cassidy Briand has a link to the donation site posted on her Facebook page.
