Hockey, Wolves this weekend

Storm

The second-place Storm start a home-and-home series Friday night against first-place Whitecourt.

Face-off time will be 7 p.m. at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.

The Storm is eight points back of the Wolverines with two games in hand.

The two will also meet Saturday in Whitecourt.

Face-off time for that game will also be at 7 p.m.

NWJHL

In the Northwest Junior Hockey League play-offs Friday, the Wheat Kings are in Beaverlodge, La Crete in Sexsmith and Peace River in Dawson Creek.

The Blades, Lumber Barons and Kodiaks all lead their best-of-five series 2-1.

Saturday, if needed, La Crete will be in Sexsmith and Dawson Creek in Peace River.

Game time is 8 p.m. for all the above games.

Sunday, if needed, Beaverlodge at the Wheat Kings and Sexsmith in La Crete.

Both of those games would start at 2 p.m.

NPHL

In the North Peace Hockey League playoffs Friday, Valleyview in Manning. The Comets have a 2-0 series lead.

Saturday, Spirit River will be in Grande Prairie, Manning in Valleyview, Falher at Fox Creek and Dawson Creek in Fort St. John.

All games will start at 8:30 p.m.

On Thursday night, Spirt River beat Grande Prairie 5-4 while Dawson Creek downed Fort St. John 8-3. The Rangers and Canucks both hold 3-0 series leads.

Fox Creek got by Falher 6-5. The Pirates still lead the series 2-1.

Wolves

Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves volleyball and basketball wrap up their regular seasons this weekend.

Basketball will host Augustana Friday at 6 and 8 p.m. and Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.

Volleyball visits Augustana on the same days and times.
