Sexsmith curlers part of Alberta team at national championship

The U18 Curling Nationals will start Sunday in Saskatoon and a pair of curlers from Sexsmith will be on one of the Alberta men’s teams.

Jaxon Hiebert and Varyk Doepker are both on the Pete Hlushak rink based in Edmonton.

They will play Saskatchewan on Sunday then Ontario and Nova Scotia on Monday.

Alberta has two men’s and two women’s teams at the event.

The other men’s team in the Austin Hennig rink also from Edmonton.

The women’s teas are the Alena Yurko rink from Calgary and the Abby Desormeau rink from the Red Deer and Beaumont Curling Clubs.

The national champions will be decided on February 22.
