1995 Canada Winter Games 30th anniversary

February 19 marks the 30th anniversary of the start of the 1995 Canada Winter Games in Grande Prairie.
The South Peace Regional Archives says on its website that the theme for the event was “Capture the Vision.”
The archives also say it featured over 2500 athletes in 21 sports, more than 600 coaches and 8000 volunteers.
They say the Wapiti Nordic Ski Centre and the Canada Games Area, now called the Bonnetts Energy Centre, were built for the games.
